With Si Bro Mo

The Bromo mascot shares safety tips that are easy to remember, from buying your ticket to heading back down.

Watch out for unofficial tickets. They come with no insurance.

The Bromo entry fee includes visitor insurance. Since 2026, staff scan your e-ticket at the gate and give you an insurance wristband: blue for Indonesian citizens, red for foreign visitors. Tickets from touts or unofficial sellers do not give you that cover. Buy only through the official Balai Besar TNBTS channel so your name is registered and you get the wristband.

Fees: Government Regulation (PP) No. 36 of 2024. Insurance wristband: BB TNBTS Decree No. 112/2025. We are still confirming the 2026 cover amount and claim process with the park office. Tickets usually cannot be refunded or rescheduled.

Frequently asked questionsFAQ
Why should I avoid unofficial tickets?
The official fee includes visitor insurance (Rp4.000 for Indonesian citizens, Rp5.000 for foreign visitors). You get the insurance wristband when your official e-ticket is scanned at the gate. Entering without a valid ticket costs a fine of 5 times the fee.
What does the ticket insurance cover?
The 2026 cover amount and claim process have not been published in any source we can verify. We are checking with BB TNBTS and will update this page.
The volcano is at Waspada (Alert). Is Bromo still open?
Waspada status usually comes with a no-go zone around the crater. The park can stay open with limits. Always check the official BB TNBTS announcements before you go.
What time should I leave for Penanjakan?
Check the sunrise time in the "Today" cards, then allow time for the jeep ride and the queue at the viewpoint.
Can I fly a drone?
Yes, with an official permit. The fee is Rp2 million per day.
What if I bought a ticket but can't go?
Tickets usually cannot be refunded or rescheduled. An exception was made through an online form when the park closed for the August 2026 fire.
What permit do I need for a pre-wedding shoot?
Commercial photo and video shoots, including pre-wedding, need a Simaksi permit. Fire, flares and fireworks are still not allowed.
When is the park closed?
Planned closures in 2026 include Yadnya Kasada (30 May to 2 June) and Wulan Kapitu (8–9 December). Sudden closures can happen during fires or when the volcano status changes.
